From Wales to Northern Ireland to Scotland to Yorkshire, schools from the United Kingdom have been a delightful addition to the Empire field! They bring with them smiles, energy and diverse perspectives.
Our teams come to us after competing in the United Kingdom’s Bar National Mock Trial Competition, run by Britain’s Citizenship Foundation. During their national competition, young people from across the United Kingdom argue cases in real crown courts, gaining insight into the workings of the legal system. The Bar National Mock Trial Competition hosts 2,000 students in years 10 to 13 (American equivalent of high school), making it extremely competitive to qualify for an Empire spot.
All international schools that apply and are accepted to an Empire program receive at least three video sessions with a member of our staff. During these (virtual) meetings, students are taught about the American legal system and courtroom procedures. Additionally, with the assistance of Empire United Kingdom alumni, Empire has prepared a guide to help students adapt seamlessly to our competition. You can download it below.
