After four years of volunteering at the Empire City Invitational, Daniel Matarrese became the Chief Financial Officer for Empire Mock Trial in 2013. Dan oversees all financial operations of the nonprofit, and ensures that Empire Mock Trial complies with all regulatory requirements.
Dan lives and works in Central Pennsylvania. With nearly 10 years of experience in public accounting as a CPA, he has served some of the region’s most successful closely-held and family-owned businesses. One of the most fulfilling parts of his job is helping clients achieve their philanthropic goals. That experience has reinforced his commitment to organizations like Empire, which provide such an unique opportunity to engage our young people in a powerful and meaningful way.
In particular, Dan connects with Empire’s educational mission. A graduate of Messiah College in Grantham, PA, Dan has returned to his alma mater to work as an adjunct tax professor. He feels fortunate to have a role with the Empire that employs his financial expertise, while incorporating his passion for educating and mentoring young people.
When Dan and his cousin, Justin, aren’t working on Empire, they are most likely talking New York Rangers hockey, one of their many shared passions. Justin is the proud uncle of Dan’s two sons, Jayden and Elijah, who reside with Dan, his beautiful wife, Ashley, and their two Labrador Retrievers in Mechanicsburg, PA.
