A professional web developer for almost a decade, Toby has worked on hundreds of projects across a diverse array of industries, but none have been as satisfying as working with the Empire. As an alumni and mentor of Tottenville High School’s robotics team, he knows firsthand the overwhelming value of an extracurricular program that focuses on both teamwork and education; while he has never participated in mock trial, he considers his work with the Empire to be of the utmost importance because of its limitless potential to benefit growing minds.
Toby has been building web solutions for the Empire since 2011, introducing new concepts in design, content management, and data systems. What started as a project to redesign the website in 2012 has turned into a constantly growing internet ecosystem, allowing the Empire to deliver news and information to its participants and fans, recruit judges and volunteers for competition, and handle team applications for events – all from a unified administration system.
When he’s not “plugged into the Matrix,” Toby envelops himself in the natural world, living and volunteering at an outdoor recreation center just a few hundred yards from the Appalachian Trail. Over the last few years, he’s traveled to dozens of U.S. National Parks and spent time living and learning on permaculture farms. Combining his passions for nature and technology, he aims to create and demonstrate modern systems of natural living.
