Before he learned how to read CSS, Abel learned how to read the rules of evidence. As a high school junior, he successfully advocated for the exclusion of a piece of character evidence in front of Judge Karas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Although that was the only victory of the day -- his New York City high school did not prevail in the trial -- Abel felt accomplished knowing he finally understood what a crime of ‘moral turpitude’ really meant.
Abel is an Empire veteran. Sensing a leadership vacuum, Abel led Empire’s bye-buster team at the inaugural Empire City Invitational to a winning record. Over a decade later, Abel saw another opportunity to fill a void at Empire and rose to the occasion. He has been on our Leadership Team since 2019.
Abel is a full time web developer at Constructive. He is also the founder of Kriya, a creative agency that specializes in full-scale digital solutions for nonprofits in the social and environmental impact sectors. A lover of nature, Abel is excited to enter this next professional chapter in his life where he can help nonprofits whose values align with his, like Empire, reach their potential.
Abel currently resides in Crown Heights Brooklyn with the love of his life, Mason, a lovely canine who is a favorite at the office. They’ve lived together for 6 years now or, if adjusting for dog years, 42.
